Kaiserliche Marine U-boat SM UC 5

Kaiserliche Marine mine laying U-boat SM UC 5. Commissioned in 1915, UC 5, after 29 patrols, ran aground on Shipwash Shoal in the North Sea on 27 April 1916. The crew attempted to scuttle UC 5 but the explosives failed and UC 5 and her crew were captured. UC 5 was placed on display for propaganda purposes in the Thames river, London, and later in Central Park, New York.

PORT AUGUSTA: A Peace demonstration at Port Augusta, November 12th 1918. The Ford registration number 0994, was registered in 1918 and belonged to E.H.K. Messenger, of Port Augusta. The Dodge Brothers vehicle, number 8746, was registered in 1917 and owned by C.L. Merrill of Port Augusta.

Adelaide Peace Day parade. The Chronicle newspaper 26 July 1919 reported "Mr. S. Lunn came in the wake of the veterans, bearing a large Australian flag, and two attendants carried (on his behalf) a decorative streamer with the words, 'Sammy's wish, peace at last". Samuel 'Sammy' Lunn, M.B.E., was a successful fundraiser for patriotic funds during WWI.
