No. 7037 George Leslie Levy, 8th Reinforcement, 4th Light Horse, was born in Essex, England, the son of Jesper Levy, before moving to Adelaide. George was a seaman in the Australian Naval Reserve and 18 years old at the time of his attestation on 22 February 1915 in Oaklands, SA. He was a driver in No. 4 Company of the Australian Army Service Corps and served in France. He survived the war and returned to Australia in 1919.

He enlisted in Adelaide, South Australia, on 14 January 1916 and arrived in France on 20 July 1916. He returned to Adelaide on 29 June 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 25 May 1920, medically unfit. James died in Broken Hill on 14 March 1923 as a result of complications arising from his war service. He is buried in the Roman catholic portion of the Broken Hill cemetery.
