Half-plate glass negative portrait of Sergeant Bailey, wearing World War One military uniform with sergeant's stripes on his sleeve. Written on original paper envelope: 'Sergt Bailey 2 Cabs. Mr A.R. Edwards (crossed out), 403,93 (crossed out), 4043'. Possibly No. 1001 Sergeant Frank Bailey, from Glenelg, South Australia, who served with the 43rd Battalion, Machine Gun Section and embarked from Adelaide on board the HMAT A19 'Afric' on 9 June 1916 aged 24. His fate is unknown.
