Basic likeness of a boat
A base model of the schooner, 'Independence', the first vessel constructed in South Australian waters. She was built in 1803 at what is now known as American River on Kangaroo Island by the crew of the brig 'Union'. It is positioned at an intersection directing visitors to American River, where they can view a much more authentic representation of Independence at the American River Wharf. This is being built by the Rebuild Independence Group (RIG) whose website is at https://rebuildindependence.org/home

Opening of Sempahore tram line
Tram number 25 arriving at Semaphore, decorated with the Union Jack and semaphore flags. A small crowd, largely of children, greets the tram with streamers. The occasion is believed to be the opening of the new electric Port Adelaide tram system in April 1917, which included the line to Semaphore.
