Betty Carey

Photograph of Miss Betty Carey, a member of the Salvation Army, wearing her uniform and bonnet. Betty Lorraine Carey married Ian John Thompson from Yahl. Both were very active in the Salvation Army at Yahl and Mount Gambier until the 1970s when they moved to Darwin. They subsequently returned to Mount Gambier. Betty was well-known for her elocution and recitation, and performed regularly at Salvation Army concerts for harvest festivals and band concerts. [Information provided by Beth Holman].
