First Street, Quorn showing shops, hotel and Adams Drapery and Boot Store. Quorn was surveyed in 1878 then the railway line from Port Augusta to Quorn was opened in 1879. East-West trains bypassed Quorn from 1937 when the standard gauge railway connection was opened between Port Augusta and Port Pirie Junction.

Quorn Railway sheds. The Quorn station opened as a terminus in 1879 on the Central Australia Railway. In 1881 Quorn became a junction station on the Peterborough to Quorn line. The railway goods shed needed to be located on the side nearest to the town. The government claimed the gradient made it impossible to have the goods and passengers sheds on the town side.

QUORN: Men struggling to save a horse and cart in the waters of Willochra Creek, near Quorn during flooding, 28 February 1921. A researcher has suggested this photograph is of the crossing of the Capowie Creek on the Quorn to Wilmington road, on the southern edge of Quorn. Another researcher agrees that this is not Willochra Creek and probably is Capowie Creek, adding that their is no weir on the Willochra.

Quorn. Quorn is situated towards the south of the Flinders Ranges and was proclaimed a township in 1878 when the railway was built. Farming began in the district in 1875 with wheat and sheep being the main products. The three storey building seen in this photograph is the Quorn Flour Mill. It was later used as a Butter Factory. Towards the right stands the Bank of Adelaide which opened in 1892, replacing the ES and A Bank which traded since 1878

Diggers Bridge. A researcher has suggested that this is the footbridge over the Pinkerton Creek at Quorn, which runs between Quorn and North Quorn. Another research agrees that it is Diggers Bridge and not Willochra Bridge, and is next to the Town Oval and Caravan Park.
