She was 5 years old when her family arrived in South Australia aboard the 'Winchester' in 1838. Eliza never married, rarely left her home, and died on 29 November 1923. An interview with Eliza, relating her memories of Rose Park in the 19th Century, its vegetation and Aboriginal population, appears in The Observer, 10 February 1923, columns D and E.
