Sir Tom Bridges, Governor of South Australia leading a ceremony held at the Light Oval at West Terrace cemetery, Adelaide, to unveil grave memorials for individual soldiers who died during service in World War I; a large crowd of spectators watch in the background. Chaplain G.W. Kendrew is the man with the clerical collar to the left of the dais. This was the first part of the A.I.F Cemetery, with a later section on the southern extension being named after Rev. Kendrew who in 1930 was chairman of the Trust responsible for the development of the cemetery. (See 'The Chronicle', Thursday 14 August 1930, page 51 for article on the Trust some years after this photo was taken.)
