Henry Collins

Henry Collins

No. 527 Corporal Henry Collins was born at Booleroo Centre on 27 August 1890, the youngest son of James Collins and Mary Jane nee Robinson. He enlisted at Keswick on 18 February 1915, a member of the 27th infantry Battalion, he served at Gallipoli and France being wounded in action three times. He survived the war and returned to Australia in 1919. On 19 September 1923 Henry married Rita Foot in the Methodist Church at Booleroo Centre. They had three children James 'Jim' (1925) Valda Margaret 'Bet' (1927) and Robert George 'Bob' (1933). Henry died suddenly on the 3rd of August 1962 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, leaving his widow, three children and eight grandchildren. His funeral was conducted in the Methodist Church at Booleroo Centre and he is buried in the Booleroo Centre Cemetery.
