It has been suggested that the photograph was taken on William and Eliza's golden wedding anniversary in 1914, but the photograph was published in the 'Observer' on 20 August 1927. Oil painting "For the Empire (a wounded Anzac)". By George J. Coates. 1916. The subject of the portrait is Ralph Elesmere Claridge, son of John T. Claridge of Hectorville. The painting was hung in the Royal Academy. Claridge was killed in action in France on 25 April 1918. See PRG 595/1 for the portrait.

Photograph album of the Ive and Bagot families

Photograph album thought to have been compiled by Eileen Dubois Ive (later Mrs John Frederick Bagot) daughter of Charles William Ive and Agnes Dubois. The album contains photographs of many family members and friends, at 'Acton', Woodville and other places, showing fund raising and commemoration days during and after the first World War, such as Cheer Up Society work and marches, Repatriation Day, French Red Cross Day and the opening of the Soldiers' War Memorial on North Terrace. Eileen married John Frederick Bagot in 1915 before his departure to France with the 13th Light Horse brigade and this album includes a number of photographs presumably taken by John Bagot, of fellow officers, places in Egypt, France and Palestine, and of the Camel Corps. The album contains five additional loose photographs, six postcards and one newspaper cutting regarding the sale of Stradbroke, the Magill home of Mr C. L. J. Dubois (maternal grandfather of Eileen Ive) and these have been placed at the end of the album. The postcards and newspaper clipping have not been digitised.

World War 1 and 2 era fundraising button badges

World War One era badges (also known as buttons or 'tinnies') collected by the R.S.L. Most badges were designed and created to be puchased as a fundraising interest, in order to raise money for various factions of the Red Cross. Included are badges created for occasions such as Australia Day, Violet Day, Army Nurses Day, and French Day, and for charity groups including the Red Cross, the Cheer-Up Society, the R.S.A. Building Fund (Returned Soldiers' Association, which later became the R.S.L.), the Wattle Day League, Soldiers' Home, Children's Patriotic League, Nursing Society, and the Y.M.C.A., as well as official peace badges marking the end of the war and various miscellaneous badges including a Christian Endeavour convention, fundraising carnivals and memorial gardens. Also includes some button badges from the inter-war years, 1919-1938, and from the Second World War, and other metal badges from WW1 and WW2. See below for details.

Four black and white photographs of one of children and three individual portraits of men (one is Jack Davis) taken by J.J. Noyce in the late 1960s / early 1970s. The photographs were donated to the Department of Education and Children's Services Aboriginal Education Unit by the family of the photographer J.J. Noyce in October 2004 before donated to the State Library (November 2004).

A collection of studio portraits under the title 'South Australian Pioneers 1838', with 'T. Duryea, Adelaide, 1872' at the bottom. This mosaic includes portraits of Governor Sir John Hindmarsh and Governor George Gawler above 116 portraits, and the handwritten names of the colonists are listed under the ships they arrived in on both sides of the portraits.

Gunnery Instructor, Artillery branch, L.M.F.S.A. 25th May 1880'. The men shown are identified collectively as the 'Non-Commissioned Officers and Gunners, A. Battery, Artillery, 1878-9-80'. These portraits are identified with the names under each image and have been assigned the numbers 1-5` (starting at the top left and working down row by row). Photographs of South Australia

This album was purchased by the State Library from an English bookseller in 1969/70, for 30 pounds sterling. It contains 75 sepia photographic prints, the vast majority of them taken in the mid-north region of South Australia, one third of them at or near Kapunda and Anlaby. Other places pictured are Blinman, Melrose and Mount Remarkable, Collingrove, Watervale, Yankalilla (one), Mount Gambier (two). There are a small number of unidentified landscapes and farms, and fourteen portraits of Aboriginal people, either singly or in groups, as well as two New Zealand [Maori] chiefs. There are about six photographic copies of drawings or paintings by Adam Gustavus Ball and possibly other artists. Several of the photos are known to be the work of one photographer, John Blood. On first pages of album: 'The requirements of art are three, an eye to see nature, a heart to feel nature, and a determination to follow after nature. Photographs collected by Francis Robert Davies, Chevalier of Malta, MRIN, MRDS. They come like shadows. 1871'.
