Sir Henry Lionel Galway, Governor of South Australia from 1914-1920. He changed his name from Gallwey to Galway in 1911. He was an unpopular Governor as he supported compulsory military training, he supported gambling, he opposed prohibition, he opposed women's enfranchisement, he opposed the White Australia Policy, he suggested that trade unionists should be conscripted. His appointment as Governor was not renewed after 1920 and he returned to England
