E.C. Longson
E.C. Longson, Sharebroker, was remembered fondly at the Adelaide Stock Exchange. He gave away a fortune. He was born in Lancashire in 1831 and was a solicitor but left the law to join a mercantile firm. He arrived in Melbourne in 1852 and honeymooned in Adelaide. He was a buyer and salesman to Messrs. William Younghusband in Gilbert Place. He became a sheep farming agent, and Staff Clerk to the SA Volunteer Military Force. He was known as 'the Prince of Brokers' and was a brilliant electioneering agent for candidates wishing to enter parliament. He helped Sir Thomas Elder, Sir Richard Baker, Sir Edwin T Smith, Hons. Henry Scott, John Crozier and AB Murray. "If you want to get into Parliament you only have to employ Mr Longson" quoted Sir Richard Baker.

Ernest Alfred Loveday
Ernest Alfred Loveday born 1868 and died 1915. This photograph was taken about 1911. He was a surveyor and superintending surveyor of the Murray Irrigation Settlement. He was son of Corporal Richard John Loveday and laid out the township of Berri. The Loveday Settlement was named after him. The Loveday Memorial was unveiled at Cobdogla in appreciation of his work in 1930.

Note on the back of the photograph says "In the article on Port Pirie which appeared in yesterday's Advertiser, Lance Corporal Loveday, who compiled a valuable map in 1853 is spoken of as having belonged to the Royal Marines. He was a member of the detachment of sappers and miners, an altogether different branch of the service, who occupied cottages on the bank of the Torrens near the City Bridge which were demolished not long ago". (no date given) Loveday's map showed a plan of the County of Stanley and part of the County of Burra. This area is in the Mid North of the State of South Australia.

Richard John Loveday was a government surveyor during the early settlement of South Australia. He arrived on the "Royal George" from London in 1847 and lived in cottages on the banks of the River Torrens near the City Bridge. One of his maps shows plans for Burra in the Mid North of South Australia.He was a soldier, surveyor and lithographer

Sir Edward Lucas
[General description] Sir Edward and Lady Lucas pose together for the photographer. This was probably taken around 1890 soon after they married. He was a draper, politician and philanthropist, later Agent General in London and was knighted in 1921 [On back of photograph] 'Sir Edward Lucas and Lady Lucas / Presented by Edward Wilcox'.

D. F. Lumsden
D. F. Lumsden of the Register staff. The Register was originally known as the South Australian Gazette and Colonial Register and later the South Australian Register was South Australia's first newspaper. It was first published in London in June 1936 and moved to Adelaide in 1837. Lumsden was a Welshman and became well known as a journalist in Melbourne.

Sir Charles Francis Gerald McCann
Sir Charles F. G. McCann (1880-1951) Trade Commissioner and Agent General representing South Australia in London. He also sat on the Australian Wool Board and was an expert judge of thoroughbreds and stud beef cattle.

Mrs Margaret McCulloch
Mrs Margaret McCulloch (nee Margaret McEwin) wife of Alexander McCulloch. Alexander McCulloch and Margaret, nee McEwan McCulloch arrived in South Australia in 1839. He became one of South Australia's largest sheep farmers. He built a homestead at Princess Royal Station in 1864 but first he owned land at River Gilbert, Eldrotrilla Station, Gottlieb's Well, Yongala, Black Rock and Boolcoomatta.
