Sir Henry Lionel Galway, 17th Governor of South Australia 1914-1920. Originally Gallwey, he changed his name to Galway in 1911. While Governor he managed to upset a wide spectrum of the public. He supported compulsory military training, he supported gambling, he opposed prohibition, he opposed women's enfranchisement, he opposed the White Australia Policy, he said the trade unionists should be conscripted. His appointment was not renewed and he returned to England in 1920.
