Mrs Anne Dann of Port Lincoln

Mrs Anne Dann, aged 104 years of Port Lincoln photographed in bed. She died in January 1921 at the age of 104. According to a researcher, she was the wife of John Dann, one of the first police troopers on Eyre Peninsula. Born in Sussex, came to Australian in 1854 (Melbourne). He retired a Sergeant, and farmed in Port Lincoln until his death in 1889.

A researcher has suggested that this may be the procession of the Adelaide Hills patriotic carnival, held on Saturday 15 February 1919 to raise funds for the repatriation of soldiers after the First World War. The carnival included a procession, which was composed of two groups, one marching from Crafers and the other from Aldgate, meeting at the Stirling Hotel, along with a fair, sports carnival, and a concert.
