Rice's Creek school

Rice's Creek school

Rice's Creek school building which was purchased by Daisy Bates and taken to Ooldea. When it closed, the school building was dismantled and taken to Ooldea in 1938 as a school for about thirty Aboriginal children, who were being taught in a dilapidated structure which did not provided shelter from wind or rain. The school was under the charge of the United Aborigines Mission. See 'The Advertiser', Saturday 10 September 1938, page 14, for further details. A researcher has suggested that the school was not purchased by Daisy Bates.
