Reverend A N Trengrove of Cowell (possibly Arthur N Trengrove) a Lewis water cooled motor cycle. These motor cycles were built from 1905 until the early 1920s. This 1909 model was introduced shortly before the arrival of the Precision motor which was introduced in 1910. The motor featured a timing chest and a water jacket behind the exhaust pipe. The cylinder casting and valve lifter detail are strikingly similar to the Stevens engine. The registration of the motor cycle in this photograph is 568.

Motor cyclist Fergusson

Motor cyclist Edgar Fergusson, winner of a 200 mile race, Minlaton to Brentwood to Stansbury corner. He was a competitor in motor cycle trials and races during the early period of the 20th century in Australia. He raced on Lewis and Indian motorcycles, and had his own workshop on the Parade at Norwood until the early 1960s.

Stephens Place, west side, 5th July 1924, showing James Marshall & Co. premises next to Verco Building. The north side of Marshall's is 38 yards from North Terrace. The two storey building in the foreground was demolished in 1925. For view of the premises subsequently erected see B 3959. A horse and cart, motor car and a motorcycle are all parked in Stephens Place. James Marshall and Company were furniture warehousemen and there are many signs in the windows advertising their winter sale.

Ingham of Kingston Terrace, North Adelaide. On the opposite side of the road a motorcycle with a sidecar can be seen. See B 3233 for the building before alterations. [General description] The facade of McPherson's Iron and Machinery Merchants is built of brick with a decorative pediment and features six arched windows on the second storey. At street level is a row of plate glass shop windows with leaded inserts at the top. Three types of transport are parked at the kerb: A Tourer motor car, a motorcycle with a sidecar and a horse and cart. [On back of photograph] 'Acres 177 & 176 / Waymouth Street, north side / April 21, 1926. / For view of McPherson's and the premises next door east as they opened before the alterations effected in 1924 and 1925 see B 2243 and B 2553. Near side of McPherson's is 31 1/2 yards east of Light Square. Far side of shop fronts is 63 yards east of Light Square, and a little to the right is Gilles Arcade. The premises between the shop fronts and Gilles Arcade were demolished in 1932. For new building see B 6395. The front of McPherson's building was remodelled prior to 1939. The Aurora Hotel (on the left) opened in 1859 as the Black Eagle, its name changed to the Aurora in 1894. Demolished in 1983 despite spirited campaigning to save it. The smaller buildings house (from left) W.S. Howard and Company, ladies handbag and belt manufacturers, Frank Warden, motorcycle tyre and tube specialist and the stables and garage belonging to the Globe Timber Mill, on the opposite side of the road.
