Woodburn Homestead

Woodburn farmhouse between Strathalbyn and Milang was built in 1862 by Matthew Rankine son of William Rankine. (Diary held in Library on Microfilm). Matthew retired to "Braemar" near Strathalbyn in 1892, son Melville lived in Woodburn until his death in 1920. The house was restores in ca. 1990.

River steamer, Goolwa

River steamer "Marion" - built at Milang in 1897. She was originally a barge puchased by George Fowler to be converted to a pleasure vessel but was bought by W Bowring and Company of Mildura and Wentworth following Fowler's death. She was converted to a passenger boat in 1914 using the superstructurre of "Pearl". "Marion" was extensively damaged by fire in 1926 and later operated as a tourist vessel running between Morgan and Mildura. The photograph shows "Marion" at the wharf ar Goolwa.

Paddle steamers at Meningie jetty when sailings were regularly carried out three times a week The "Jupiter" is in the centre, the "Murray" on the right and the "Arcadia" left., they sailed the Lakes between Milang and Meningie.

[General description] A. H. Landseer's store at Morgan comprises one large stone warehouse building with another large iron shed. Men, probably staff are posed for the photographer standing on a dray drawn by two light draught horses in tandem configuration (the horses harnessed one behind the other).
