Goolwa to Port Elliot tramway, the first South Australian tramway. Photo taken between 1854, when the line was opened, and 1871, when Jones vacated the position of Traffic Manager. From left: standing, holding the reins, Eli Hillman, driver; T. Taylor, customs officer at Goolwa on front seat with top hat and white trousers; Robert Mahon, Imperial Flour Mill, in soft hat; Thomas Jones, tramway superintendent, standing on the step; Thomas Goode, J.P., storekeeper, postmaster and Mayor of Goolwa, standing on the ground. [The Post and Telegraph office, built in 1857, is visible behind the carriage.] The tram is standing on a portion of the line not used since present station and deviation to whaves made.
