Collection of silver albumen photographs, most loose, contained in a 'post card album'. Believed to have been taken (or collected in some cases) by F.C. Krichauff, who worked as a photographer in South Australia. The majority of the photographs are of buildings in Adelaide, but also include English and European buildings , believed to have been take during an overseas visit in 1882 - neither have been copied. See 'contents' for details of individual photographs.

Letter to Mrs Stephen King junior from John McDouall Stuart
Letter written by John McDouall Stuart from Brighton, 19 March 1863, to Stephen King's mother at 'Kingsford', Gawler asking that his sketches made during the expedition across Australia 1861-1862, be sent to Mr. Finke's office, Currie Street "so we may get a copy of them and bring them out to the greatest advantage..". The letter was kept with King's sketches and numbered as 17 by an archivist.

William Costen Burgess
Opalotype portrait of William Costen Burgess. Burgess is believed to have been born 1 April 1842 in South Australia (not recorded) and died North Boulder, WA, on 12 November 1902. He was a farmer at Red Bank farm, River Gawler; a publican at both Port Broughton and Collinsfield (both in SA) and a miner in in Western Australia from 1893. He was also living at Aberdeen, Burra in 1878. Biographical notes may be found at D 8278(Misc).
