[General description] This church was designed and constructed by Messrs. English and Brown, of Adelaide, in 1856. It originally had a spire which had to be demolished in the 1890s as it had become unstable. See B 11766/3 (part of panorama B 11766 1-4). Panoramic view of Gawler in 1872. (Sweet Adelaide 385). William Light planned the town and William Jacob laid out the town in a triangular pattern. A pathway along the river appeared along with mills and engineering works, the chimneys and spires of which can be seen in this photograph.
