Pinnaroo E.F.S. appliance (Blitz vehicle with Coventry Climax engine). The man standing up in the middle of the truck is Maurice O'Loughlin. The following information was provided by a researcher: This truck is a Chevrolet Blitz, one of the many ex-Army vehicles purchased by Peter R. Peers from Army disposal sales. He was in business at Murrayville, Victoria, across the border from Pinnaroo. The man standing on the rear of the truck is Keith Jolly. The truck was purchased by the Pinnaroo District Council to be used as a firetruck, in October 1948. See article in the 'Pinaroo and Border Times, Thursday 14 October 1948, page 1, for more details.

The four masted steel barque 'Earl of Dunmore', 2287 tons, scuttled at Sydney to extinguish a fire [steel 4 mast barque, 2287 tons. ON98634, 277.9 x 42.1 x 24.2. Built 1891 (5) Russell and Co. Greenock. Owners Sailing Ship Earl of Dunmore Ltd (JD Thomson) registered Glasgow, later J Malcolm was manager. Sold c.1913/4 and renamed Spartan. Said to be sunk by enemy action in March 1917. She was scuttled to extinguish a fire when the vessel was in Sydney].
