Photo taken prior to the departure of the Sectional Committee at Oodnadatta. The Committee was set up by the Commonwealth Government to investigate possibilities for improving the overland transport route from Adelaide to Darwin, and consisted of Senator Newland, Senator Foll and a Mr Jackson. They were accompanied by Gerald Whitelaw, G.A. Hobler and JJ. Waldron. The 10 men are shown standing in front of the three six cylinder Buick tourers assigned for the inspection trip.
