P.S. Pilot on River Darling

P.S. Pilot on River Darling

Side view of 'P.S. Pilot' at river landing on the River Darling, with horse and cart approaching, piles of timber and wool bales awaiting transport, bullock wagon loaded high with wool bales above the river bank, and several buildings in background. According to a researcher, this vessel may actually be the 'P.S Cato', which was the 'P.S Pilot''s sister ship. The curve from the raised forecastle to normal deck height being a clue, as the Pilot lacked this. Also the lack of a diamond spark arrester on the stack being the other giveaway - something the 'P.S. Pilot' had from beginning to the end of its working life.

Echuca slip being built with P.S. Pilot tied up alongside

P.S. Pilot at river bank where a slip is being built at Echuca, with several men standing on the slip works. A researcher believes the Australien is on the far side of the river, and the dismantled paddle steamer at the bottom of the slip, (hull with sponson decks on each side), is the PS Cato.
