A wagon owned by Sydney butcher P.J. Shalvey outside his shop in George Street West, Sydney, N.S.W. The Sun newspaper of 19 February 1914, page 7, describes the scene, "People coming into the city in trams along, George-street West this morning were surprised to see a policeman doing his best to keep order among about 100 struggling men, women, and children, armed with bags and baskets, who were swarming inside and outside the butcher's shop of Mr. P. J. Shalvey. A big waggon was drawn up alongside the kerbing. ...".

Described in the media as "The First seaplane in Australia" this aircraft, a Maurice Farman hydro-plane powered by a 70hp Renault engine was owned by Mr. Lebbeus Hordern of Sydney, N.S.W., and used by the French aviator Maurice Guillaux (1883-1917) to make several flights over Sydney Harbor in May 1914.

The deteriorating hulk of the barque "Adolphe"
The wreck of the French 4 masted barque "Adolphe" resting on Stockton breakwater at the entrance to Newcastle harbor NSW. The vessel ran aground on the notorious Stockton Oyster Bank in September 1904, but the crew were rescued with no loss of life. The remains of the barque can still be seen to this day.

According to a researcher, this is the mouth of the Hawrthorne Canal (in near-new condition) at Iron Cove Bay, Lilyfield, looking northeast towards Drummoyne. The old Iron Cove Bridge can be seen at right and on the hill can be seen the Drummoyne water tower.
