Battlecruiser at sea off Port Adelaide

Battlecruiser at sea off Port Adelaide

Distant view of what had been thought to be H.M.S. Hood at sea off Port Adelaide during a visit of the British fleet to South Australia in 1924. A researcher states that there is a steam pinnacle in the foreground, not a tug. Another researcher has provided the following informtation: HMS Hood and HMS Repulse (Battlecruisers and huge ships for the time) were in South Australian waters as part of the cruise of the British Special Service Squadron (The Empire Cruise) in March 1924. They were accompanied by a number of Cruisers. The ship in the image is not a Cruiser (a cruiser was smaller) and it is not HMS Hood. HMS Hood's funnels were not stepped like the ones in the image. The only ship it can possibly be in that location and at that time is HMS Repulse. It is definitely not HMS Hood (have a close look at the funnels of the two ships in side profile) Another notable difference is Hood's Conning Tower is somewhat different.
