Mr. J.H. Flannagan of the Imperial Hotel, Grenfell Street, Adelaide photographed welcoming Aidan de Brune, who had walked around Australia to Adelaide; he is handing over a piece of paper which could be a cheque outside the premises of the hotel where a small crowd of spectators stand watching. A researcher has provided the following information from the diary of Aidan de Brune (a pseudonym of Herbert Charles Cull), documenting his walk around Australia, from the entry for 23 November 1923, day 795 of the journey: 'To leave Sydney on foot, to walk ten thousand miles (more or less) around Australia, calling at all the ports en route on the four coasts, and to return to Sydney, was the task set me'. The diary is available to read online from Project Gutenberg Australia - 'Record diary of a walk around Australia' by Aidan de Brune.
