A researcher has suggested that this may be the procession of the Adelaide Hills patriotic carnival, held on Saturday 15 February 1919 to raise funds for the repatriation of soldiers after the First World War. The carnival included a procession, which was composed of two groups, one marching from Crafers and the other from Aldgate, meeting at the Stirling Hotel, along with a fair, sports carnival, and a concert.
