Point Lowly Lighthouse, completed in 1883, automated in 1973, and turned off in 1993. It stands on a point jutting into the northern end of the Spencer Gulf, near Whyalla. The view shows three of the Searcy brothers, Roffe, Arthur and Alfred, seated in a small boat. In the background the Point, with the recently raised [1909] lighthouse, and the two lighthouse cottages can be seen.

According to Arthur Searcy, this is a ship calling at Hog Bay jetty, near Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. According to a researcher, Searcy's photo is probably of the "SS Karatta" at the jetty at Second Valley and not at Hog Bay/Penneshaw. Another researcher concurs with the first researcher that this is probably the "SS Karatta" at Second Valley jetty and that it is definitely not Hog Bay, Kangaroo Island.
