Bartagunya Station, near Melrose, showing homestead, outbuildings etc. Also known as Bartagunyah it was named by the Nukunu Aboriginals and is nestled at the Southern end of Mount Remarkable near Melrose. In 1870 Dr Matthew Moorhouse took up this property from HL L'Estrange. A bush fire swept through the area in 1865 destroying the garden but the wool shed and outer buildings were saved by Mr L'Estrange
