Floods of January 24, 25. Reclaimed swamp at Murray Bridge becomes an immense inland sea. It was reported in the Advertiser that within a few miles of Murray Bridge there were miniature lakes hundreds of acres in extent. The photograph shows levies and a bridge disappearing into the flood water.

Tolarno built at Goolwa in 1879, the Kelvin (formerly Ariel built in 1867) converted into the Kelvin at Goolwa in 1912., Ruby built at Morgan in 1907. The photograph shows a busy scene of river steamers moored at the wharf, train wagons and buildings.

[General description] The Public school, Murray Bridge is a single storey stone building with a tall brick chimney. It was replaced in 1912 with a larger building in response to the rapid growth of Murray Bridge. However a researcher believes 'this is the replacement school built 1912. The original school opposite the railway station then became the post office. The building depicted was later enlarged by having further classrooms added to both wings, but remains in use'.

The Faerhmann family home at Murray Bridge, now demolished. It was the old (unlicensed) Hotel situated on the corner of Adelaide Road and Mannum Road, Murray Bridge. In 1904 the property was purchased from Johnstons brewers of Oakbank by Carl Agust Faehrmann and his wife Jessie who then established a blacksmith and wheelwright business on the property.

A researcher 'believes the diver in this image to be James Putwain a very experienced commercial diver originally from Whitstable in Kent, UK. He had a long and very varied diving career in Australia. It was on this job at Murray Bridge that he suffered an accident when his air hose was severed'.
