A letter dated 6th November 1916 from Lt. McKenzie, 58th Military Sub-Division, Mount Gambier, to Nesbit & Nesbit, the solicitors representing L. and J. Jarman. It states that they have been classed as unfit for military service on medical grounds and are therefore exempted from military duty.

Travel fellowship from the Churchill Memorial Trust - photographic record

The series consists of photographs, transparencies, negatives and proof sheets relating to J.S. Ostoja-Kotkowski's overseas study tour in 1967. The Churchill Memorial Trust granted Ostoja a fellowship which enabled him to visit the U.S.A., Canada, England, Holland, Germany, Poland, France, Italy, Japan, India and Hong Kong. It enabled him to visit art galleries, computer laboratories, electronic music laboratories and to attend the Montreal Expo where he had a mural in the Australian pavilion. He met people such as Billy Kluver, Bell Laboratory, Professor Ussachewsky, Princeton University, Ray Bradbury, Sir Hubert Read and Marcel Marceau.

In the back cover of the album is a miniature album, insterted inside the cover, which folds open to reveal more carte de visite photographs (see numbers 43- 48). Also includes loose photographs (49-51), and In memoriam cards for Annie Kay, wife of Robert Kay (died 1886), a cross stitch bookmark with 'Sunday' stitched across the centre, and a newspaper cutting about the unveiling of a portrait of Catherine Helen Spence at the State Library of South Australia.
