Angmering House, Enfield (Built 1840) - note the thatched roof. Built by John Ragless senior about the year 1840. The oldest portion of the cottage is on the right - Section 343, north-east corner of the Main North Road and Rakes Road (now Regency Road), Enfield Park. Said to be the first building erected at Enfield. In 1840 the section was covered with pine trees, which Ragless cut down to provide slabs for the first Congregational Church. Above information from Adelaide Chronicle May 24, 1934 p. 37. This thatched cottage has two small wings coming from the main building. Bushes, flowers and pine trees are growing in the surrounding gardens. John Ragless junior was born at Angmering in Sussex. This original Enfield home of the Ragless family was built on an 80 acre section.
