[General description] Methodist Manse, Aberdeen, Burra, with the Minister, his wife and son posing for the photographer in front of the building. The manse is a substantial house built from stone with brick quoins and has a gabled iron roof. There is a front verandah with decorative woodwork and a bay window. Paxton Cottage Homes, Burra, left by John Lewis for poor people to occupy at a nominal rent. [Paxton Square cottages, once a square of cottages but now only three sides remaining, with 33 left. They were built between 1849-1851 by South Australian Mining Association for the miners to live in. Hon. John Lewis purchased them for low cost housing. Essington Lewis, founder of BHP, was his son.
