Town Hall, King William Street., east side. The Town Hall clock was added in 1935. The original clock was given to Holy Trinity Church in North Terrace as this was Adelaide's first tower. The Town Hall was built in 1863-6. The building to the south (right) was finished in 1869 and was the Prince Alfred Hotel until 1953.

Series of 102 black and white lantern slides numbered 40-145, illustrating the development of Adelaide, 1839-1914. Some slides are of maps, lithographs and sketches made by nineteenth century artists and lithographers. The series juxtaposes views of Adelaide buildings and streets and key landmarks at several time periods, to show the changes and developments in Adelaide to 1914. The streets in focus in this series include King William Street, North Terrace, Stephen's Place, Rundle Street, Hindley Street, Pulteney Street, Grenfell Street, Pirie Street, Gouger Street, Gawler Place and Hindmarsh Square. The following slides are not held: 1-39, 63, 67, 81, 128.

During 1858 the Oddfellows Hall was built in Murray Street and the Institute Committee rented rooms on the ground floor. The clock tower on the Post Office can also be seen. The Post Office was built in 1866 from local stone

Lunatic Asylum/Psychiatric Hospital 1876-86. The clock was installed in the tower in 1876. The Parkside Lunatic Asylum was established in 1870 and was home to not only the mentally ill, but also unmarried women and their children, and prostitutes. The three storey hospital was divided into female and male sections. The grounds contained a farm and gardens and patients were encouraged to tend the gardens, sheep, cattle, pigs, pick fruit, mend clothes and tailor shoes.

[General description] Parkside Lunatic Asylum (later known as Glenside Hospital). It was designed by R.G. Thomas in 1868 during his stint as Government Architect and built from Glen Osmond stone. The central portion of the building has a tower and a widow's walk and there is an imposing portico over the entrance. The clock was installed in 1876.

[General description] These public buildings exude confidence. The Town Hall and Council chamber, built from local limestone in the Classical style were constructed in stages between 1880-1883, starting as an Institute. The clock and tower was added in 1903, donated by Mr. DF Squibb, a Kadina blacksmith and wheelwright. The Savings Bank building was designed by architect Mr. J.F Jenkins of Port Pirie and opened in 1908. It is in the 'Federation Freestyle' style which embraces a mix of influences ie. Goolwa Hotel, with portrait of proprietor and advertisements. The figurehead of the "Mozambique" is above the doors of Hayloft on the Stables. This advertisement for the Goolwa Hotel states the following: 'River Murray an ordinary daily at one o'clock. Choice English ales on draught. Horses guns and dogs for sportsmen. By yours respectfully Jno. Varcoe. Wines spirits and cordials. Good stables, stock yards. Horses and gigs on hire. Three photographs on the advertisement depict the Goolwa Hotel, Jno. Varcoe and the Stables.

Church of the Holy Evangelist was opened in 1868. This limestone church had its clock tower and spire completed by 1905.The second photograph shown is of the Flour Mill at Goolwa. This steam flour mill was offered for sale in 1858 by the Crawford Brothers and they stated that with plenty of wheat in the district and the railway it was a paying concern

[General description] Various shops and buildings along Moonta's main street are the premises for the Moonta District Co-Operative, (dealers for International, Deering and McCormack harvesters), C.W. Williams' agency for C.A.V. batteries and Farmers Union to name a few. The Town Hall clock tower can be seen in the middle of the view. [On back of photograph] 'Ryan Street / Named after the shepherd who discovered Moonta Mines / 1932 / Note by Mr. O. Pryor: Ryan Street was intended to be the main business street but the shop-keepers preferred George Street / Two storied building in middle distance is the union Bank / Reproduced in Chronicle for September 1st, 1932'.

Mt. Gambier Town Hall, Institute Hall, and Institute (Commercial Street). The Town Hall was constructed in 1882 and first used as Council offices and meeting rooms. The clock and tower were donated by TC Ellis of Benara Station and were added in 1883. The adjoining Institute Library and Hall was constructed in 1869 with the upper storey being added in 1886. The building was used as a library and as a silent movie theatre between 1911 - 1926. A fine stained glass and leadlight ceiling is a feature of this building

Commercial St., Mount Gambier showing the old Town Hall on the left with its prominent clock tower. The huge building is constructed from dolomite and limestone and was completed in 1882. The Institute building was added in 1882. An ornate marble fountain was donated to Mount Gambier by Captain Robert Gardiner in 1884
