Comprising information, statistics and photographs of production projects undertaken by GM-H during WWII. Contains photographs and layout plans of plant facilities including Woodville, the 'largest body building plant in the Southern Hemisphere', Pagewood, Brisbane, and Fishermen's Bend. Also contains photographs of equipment produced including trucks, Jeeps and other purpose built vehicles, amphibious craft, dressing stations and blood banks, wireless signal units, water tank vehicles, aircraft trailers, compressor units, tropic proofing, pontoons and folding boats, lifeboats and dories, work boats, diesel engines, truck wheels, aircraft components (including Beaufort, Beaufighter, Mosquito, Boomerang), anti-tank guns, howitzers, and bombs and shells.

Letters and post cards written by Hermann Fritz Hubbe, (known as Fritz), son of Samuel Grau Hubbe and Edith Hubbe (nee Cook), while travelling to Europe during the First World War and in Egypt and Lemnos. Includes Field Service post cards with generic printed sentences. Also includes letters to H.F. Hubbe and a receipt for a 'sac suit' made for him by Williams Bros. & Co. Hermann Fritz Hubbe died in 1916.

Copies of the diary of A.S. Hutton, signaller, No 10 H.Q. Staff, 3rd Light Horse Regiment AIF, May 12-Nov 30, 1915. Arthur describes his experiences in Egypt, the fighting around Quinn's Post, and the illnesses contracted by Hutton and his fellow soldiers in the field, including illnesses requiring transfer to Alexandrina, Lemnos etc. Two copies are available, as a facsimile of the original [which is held in the Australian War Memorial], and a handwritten copy of the original. Includes a typescript transcript.

Concentration camp

Concentration camp at Torrens Island. The Torrens Island Internment Camp was a World War I detention camp which held up to 400 men of German or Austro-Hungarian background between October 1914 and August 1915. The prisoners were interned in tents in very uncomfortable conditions. In 1915 a new commanding officer shifted the camp to another location on the island and conditions deteriorated. Guards were routinely offensive, violent and brutal but when an American internee was flogged he wrote to the US Consul and the conditions were brought into the open. The camp was quietly closed in 1915. The official records were destroyed

Comprises: Private Thomas Andrew's attestation papers for enlistment in the 7th Light Horse Regiment of the Australian Imperial Force on 12th October 1914; postcard from Private Andrew to his brother Horace congratulating him on his marriage, written at Gallipoli on 1st June 1915; letter written by Private Andrew's brother Robert on their mother's behalf on 22nd December 1915, asking that the Officer in Charge at the Base Record Office in Melbourne forward any papers of consequence; and a paper from the AIF documenting correspondence sent to Private Andrew's family from 24th August 1915 to 31st August 1922.
