Carl Unbehaun
Carl Unbehaun, electrical engineer in the Post and Telegraph Department. On the 14th May 1883 Adelaide's first telephone exchange with 48 subscribers was established in the General Post Office in Adelaide. In 1898 he established Unbehaun and Johnstone electrical engineers of Grenfell Street, later radio manufacturers abd retailers. One of their first contracts was to install electric lighting in the Government freezing works at Port Adelaide.

James Crabb Verco (1814-1891) was an early settler in the colony of South Australia. He was a builder, businessman and parliamentarian. His son Joseph Cooke Verco was a medical practitioner and conchologist of North Terrace

Adolph Von Treuer
Adolph Von Treuer: Arrived in Australia in 1853. Clerk in the Railways Dept. and, later, in the Post Office for over 30 years confidential manager to R. Barr-Smith. German Consul: 1866-83 afterwards Consul of Austria-Hungary until his death 12 December 1894, a member of the council of Education and of the University Council. The native plant Grevillea treueriana was named in his honour as German Consul to Australia in the 19th century.

Salvator Rosa Wakefield
Salvator Rosa Wakefield: wool manager and auctioneer for Elder, Smith and Co., afterward land agent and valuator. He arrived in South Australia from New Zealand and was known as a shrewd and farseeing man of business. He was also a member of the mounted police force. He was also director of the Imperial Insurance Company. He was a relative of Edward Gibbon Wakefield who in 1834 propounded the system of colonization known as the Wakefield System
