Charles Allan Seymour Hawker, Minister for Markets(Commerce) and Minister for Repatriation. In 1932 he was replaced and later resigned in protest at the government's refusal to reduce parliamentary salaries during the Great Depression. He continued to represent the people of Wakefield as their Nationalist Party elected representative. He died in the Kyeema airplane disaster near Mount Dandenong in 1938. He had been paralysed from the waist down during the Battle of Broodseinde in 1917. He was eventually able to walk with two sticks

He studied mining and metallurgy in Europe and returned to South Australia in 1892. He was a lecturer at the School of Mines and later retired to take up pastoralist pursuits near Bungaree

Richard Dixon Hawkins, the owner of Aldgate Pump Hotel arrived in South Australia in 1842. He named his hotel after an area in London just north of the Tower and East of the City of London. The term meaning "Old Gate" is appropriate as the pump was located outside the original little inn and near the entry point to Adelaide. Richard Dixon Hawkins established the coaching inn in 1852. He was the son of a London publican and he hoped to capitalise on the rush to the goldfields at Echunga

Captain Henry Cowell Hawson, son of Henry Hawson and brother of Francis Tapley Hawson [duplicate copy at PRG 458/1/2/39]. Captain Hawson arrived in Port Lincoln in 1839 bringing his whole family (brothers and father) from Newfoundland looking for a better life after the Depression. His brigantine "Abeona" carried a cargo of cedar wood which was used in building his home at Kirton Point. He was a pioneer pastoralist who brought the firtst cattle to the Eyre Penninsula. He built a sheep property at Little Swamp called 'Towalla', a pastoral lease at Coffin Bay and Polda Station. He married Frances Maria Brodribb in Tasmania in 1840 and together they had 6 children. He accompanied Tod's expedition to the north and CC Dutton's party to the south.
