100 year commemoration of John McDouall Stuart crossing Australia from north to south in 1862. Proceedings were conducted by the Port Lincoln Caledonian Society, at the Post Office where there is a plaque attached. In attendance is piper P.J. Baillie, Post Chieves J. Calderwood, M. Mortimer, and G. Leary, Town Clerk L. Paige, Returned Soldiers Official Mr. L. Whait, Post Chief Nicholls, and the Chairman of the Lincoln District Council Stuart Sinclair.

According to a researcher, locals know this double bend in the road as "The Double Corner". The main road is called the Lincoln Highway coming into town from the north. The track to the left is now Normandy Place. The house in the background was demolished and the Limani Motel now stands there.

Gravestone of James Owen, who died in 1877, and his wife Sophia, who died in 1884. Sophia Owen nee Bessell arrived in South Australia on the Buffalo with her first husband Robert Walker. She married James Owen in 1843 at Port Lincoln, where he built the Pier Hotel.
