Sam Dodd, 5th generation farmer in the region of the mouth of the Murray River, standing beside a small pump for used for stock.The water has receded 300 metres from the pre-drought shoreline and water is simply not available to access for irrigation, forcing Dodd to halve the number of stock. The Dodd family settled the land 140 years ago and were the first people to irrigate on Lake Albert. Three or four years ago there were 24 dairy farms in the region and only 4 remain.

Pencil sketch by John Jacob Kopp of 'Port Milang' on the Murray River. According to a researcher, Kopp was the lighthouse keeper at Cape Jaffa at the time of his drawing of Port Milang. The sketch shows a paddle steamer tied up at the wharf, with a ketch on the other side; a boat is under construction on the water's edge on the lower right, with A.H. Landseer's premises in the centre middle ground. Other substantial buildings are adjacent to this, with residential buildings depicted to either side.

One of three albums containing portraits of members of the Board of Governors and Officers of the Public Library, Museum and Art Gallery of South Australia. A first group of portraits was assembled in 1884-1886, and included 'gentlemen who have been Governors of the South Australian Institute from its establishment in 1856, and of the Public Library since 1884'. These were added to subsequently, with three volumes compiled to 1940. The caption for each photograph has the date of appointment or date of election to the Board of Governors. The contributors to the albums were asked upon submitting their photograph, to indicate the date of the photograph if possible. These dates of photographs have been shown in brackets.

The 'Alexandria' tied up at Mannum with PS 'Marion' in background. A researcher suggests that the spelling of this vessel is Alexandrina, as in the Lake. However there were vessels 'Alexandria' and 'Alexandrina' operating on the Murray River.

The 'Australien' returning from Yarrawonga, 1937, carrying car as cargo with family group on upper deck. According to a researcher, the people are Captain King and family with their Hudson car. Daughter Thelma is reported to have grown up onboard the 'Australien' but never learnt to swim. The 'Australien's last major work was building the weirs on the Murray in the 1930s. She held the record - 10 days - for the fastest run up and back on the Darling river. She sank near the weir on Lake Mulwala, Yarrawonga in around 1962.
