Large building thought to be the Catholic presbytery in Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH: Edwardian-style sandstone mansion built 1912-13, designed and built by Bishop John Henry Norton as the Catholic presbytery. After his death in 1923, the building was converted into a convent and boarding school for the St Joseph's Catholic Girls school until around 1973. In the 1980s the building was sold and renovated as a Bed and Breakfast and also location for Murder Mystery Parties. It was re-named 'St Cecilia' after the patron saint of music. The building is now closed to the public.

The Stars football team members who won the 1905 Mount Gambier Football Association Premiership on 13 September when the defeated The Imperials 2.12 (24) to 3.5 (23). The Chronicle newspaper of 23 September 1905 reported, "September 13. The Imperials and the Stars, who were on even terms for the association premiership, met this afternoon on the Show Grounds, and played the deciding match. The weather was showery, and the attendance large. The match resulted in a win for the Stars by one point, after an exciting game. The play was very rough at times. W. Smith, one of the Stars, was injured during the second quarter, and had to retire."
