Photographs of exterior and interior views of houses, apartments, commercial premises, hospitals, aged care facilities, churches, schools and other building projects, together with related architectural plans, from the work of 97 architectural companies, mostly South Australian, collected by John Chappel for his 'Advertiser' newspaper articles on architecture. Many photographs have the full address of the building and the photographer's name. The photographs of interiors of houses show decorating styles of the era. The records were originally housed in folders, in alphabetical order under the company's name. They have been listed in the same order, the photographs numbered and now housed in 21 albums, and the plans in 11 plan folders. See below for details of the contents of plan folders. In the photograph albums have been placed any small size architectural plans, as well as notes from architects and printed brochures, as detailed in the listing.
