English, Scottish, and Australian Chartered Bank, King William Street
Hand-coloured print from a newspaper of the new premises for the English, Scottish and Australian Bank, King William William Street, Adelaide. Artist unknown. The bank was founded in 1852 and was known as the ES&A Bank. The building was designed by William Wilkinson Wardell of Sydney in the 'Gothic Revival' style, and was completed in 1883, located on the corner of King William Street and Gresham Place. The building was demolished in 1965. The print was originally published in 'Frearson's Monthly Illustrated Adelaide News', Sunday 1 April 1883, page 4. Handwritten at bottom of cutting: 'Fremason, April 1883'.
