The hospital was originally called Ru-Rua Hospital and stood on the corner of Roberts Place and Pennington Terrace. This has been built in the late Federation style and the lattice work and carved wooden embellishments on the verandah are typical of the nineteen twenties. This portion of the hospital with the balcony was built in 1925
