Memorial documents related to the death of Sir Ross Macpherson Smith on 13 April 1922, including memorial services held at St. Clement Danes and Vickers Limited, and funeral service at St. Peter's Cathedral. Also includes a copy of the address given by Dr. Alfred August Lendon at Queen's College. Sir Ross' funeral was originally planned for 14 June but his body was delayed in arriving in Adelaide and the funeral was postponed until 15 June 1922.

Text accompanying photograph in the 'Victor Harbour Times', 7 November 1969, reads: 'Lady Smith, widow of the late Sir Keith Smith, with Mr. W.A.A. Peters, acting State manager, BP Australia Ltd., and Mr. E.C. Acres, president of the Royal Aero Club of S.A. at the memorial to the aviators whose famous flight is commemorated by the BP England-Australia air race. Lady Smith is the only surviving link with those who performed the first flight from England to Australia. The memorial, by sculptor John Dowie, is on the side wall of the hangar which houses the famous Vickers Vimy at Adelaide Airport.

Letter from Ross Smith to Miss Annie Wood of Linden Park dated 9 November 1919, with violet cachet 'Per Vickers "Vimy" Aeroplane to Australia', carried in the Vimy Vickers during the England-Australia Air Race. Along with 1919 England-Australia flight cover bearing Aerial Post 'Stamp' tied by 26 Feb 1920 oval arrival cachet (twice) with violet cachet 'Per Vickers "Vimy" Aeroplane to Australia'. The envelope is addressed to 'Miss Wood, Linden Park, Burnside, South Australia'. The letter was written by Ross Smith in Weybridge, England, three days before departing on the England-Australia flight. In the 'Ross Smith air stamp' book by Nelson Eustis, it is number 220 of 364 letters carried on the flight with the official stamp. [See also D 7813(L)].
