Camilla Maude Hargreaves and Sophia Hinerangi in New Zealand. Sophia Hinerangi was the main guide of the famous Pink and White Terraces at Lake Rotomahana before their destruction by the Mt Tarawera eruption of 1886, after which she became a guide at Whakarewarewa. Camilla Hargreaves nee Nicholls was the wife of William Arthur Hargreaves, South Australian government analyst and chief inspector of explosives. The Hargreaves travelled to New Zealand in 1904.

First train to Ascot Park

The first train to run on the new Brighton line photographed at the location of the planned Ascot Park railway station. One of three trainloads of intended Ascot Park land purchasers who travelled to the site on Saturday 22 February 1913. The train in the picture is V.R. No.1, later No.12 and then No.528 (which can be seen on the front buffer beam), Geo. England 2-2-2, B/No.146/1857. It originally had 72" driving wheels before being converted to a 2-4-0 in 1870. It went to South Australia for Rawdon & Baxter, contractors for the Outer Harbor works, Port Adelaide in 1904. Rebuilt by James Martin in 1912, then acquired by Smith & Timms, contractors for the Adelaide to Willunga line.
