Walter Howchin, University of Adelaide lecturer in Geology and palaeontology, examining rocks on Wedge Island, 17 January 1907. Mr. Howchin had been general secretary of the 11th session of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science held in Adelaide in January 1907. Following the session the S.S. Governor Musgrave was made available to scientists to sail to Spencer's Gulf.
