Preparing to lay the track to take 'Dora Bassett' over the dunes. 'Dora Bassett' was a screw motor launch, which was blown ashore and grounded at the Murray Mouth, and shifted by cutting access through the sand dunes of Younghusband Peninsula to the Coorong. Teams of draught horses were used to drag it on makeshift railway tracks.

About the time this photo was taken it was owned and operated by Captain Dyer who used it to run a weekly service from Renmark to Morgan. Captain William Drage worked on this vessel as a boy.
