Group of schoolchildren and their Teacher at Brownlow. A researcher has suggested that this is at Brownlow, near Eudunda rather than Kangaroo Island. The windows and porch match the church that is currently there. Further, the Kangaroo Island Pioneers Association states that there was no school at 'their' Brownlow. According to UniSA, two women taught at the school in 1912-1913. In 1912 the school was known as the Brownlow Lutheran Church School, before the Government takeover in 1917.

In the 1897 season more than 28,000 sheep were shorn although 22,000 sheep died shortly after this due to extreme drought
