Panoramic view of Burra township in 1874 showing a stone cottage in the foreground, a church on the hill behind and the township nestled in the valley below. Bare hills surround the town. After the area was surveyed the wealthy capitalists (nobs) purchased the the southern half of the division and the shopkeepers and merchants, knowns as the snobs purchased the northern half. Burra Burra Mine was established by the snobs and Princess Rotal Mine by the nobs. At the time of this photograph the Burra Burra Mine produced 50,000 tonnes of copper.

Neither can be confirmed at this point in time. Identified by the Burra History Group as Burra: the double span Kooringa bridge is in the middle distance, St Joseph's Catholic Church is to the right with the spire, the two storey building in the centre is the National Bank and to the right behind this is the Burra Institutue, and to the far right are cottages in Bridge Terrace. There is a sign advertising Amgoorie Tea on the bank of the creek.]

Bunting flies from the telegraph poles and many decorated cars are taking part in a parade for the Back to Burra Celebrations on Saturday 24 October 1925. Shops along the road include Bences cash drapery store, The Savings Bank of South Australia which opened for business 27 February 1912, W.S. Field Confectioner and Fruiterer, T.W. Wilkinson Bookseller and Stationer, Dispensary established in 1860, Commercial Bank of Australia, Draper selling boots and shoes, Garage and a General Store.
