Photograph of the torch ceremony during the opening of the Boys Institute Building, Mount Gambier, by Sir Thomas Playford on 14th April 1962. "Mr. McLaren then lit a torch from a bowl at the rear of the dais and passed this to Mr. Haines, (Mr. F.A. Haines, Chairman of the Y.M.C.A. Board, standing in photograph) who in turn lit torches held by six leaders, representing Home, School, Church, Industry, Leisure and Community. The leaders were Chris Ashendon, Ian Buck, Roger Buck, Don Lockwood, John Ball and Robert Kilsby." Border Watch newspaper, 17 April 1962, page 21.
